What is the IHT? It’s an opportunity to take your fitness outside the gym and use in the Salmon River Mountains of Idaho. Members from gyms across the states gather in McCall, Idaho and are lead each day on a different adventurous hike by Coach Ryan Heywood. 3 days - 3 different hikes. Each hike averages around 5-6 hours with varying distances between 8-12 miles and 2000-3000 feet of vertical gain. The views are incredible. The camaraderie is long lasting. And the challenge is worthy. At night, we have reservations made for us at area restaurants to experience the local fare. It’s a fitness vacation you will not want to miss. (Did we mention that Coach Ryan makes you a Rustic Brown Bag Lunch for each hike?)

SURE YOU CAN LIFT A HEAVY BARBELL, BUT HOW DO YOU FARE WHEN THE MOUNTAIN IS THROWING TERRAIN AND STEEP VERT AT YOU?

EACH DAY WILL PRESENT YOU WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO USE THE FITNESS YOU HAVE GAINED IN THE GYM, OUT IN THE BACKCOUNTRY OF THE SALMON RIVER MOUNTAIINS.

WHO IS OUR GUIDE?

COACH RYAN HEYWOOD IS AN UESCA CERTIFIED ULTRA RUNNING COACH AND A LEVEL 2 CROSSFIT TRAINER. HAVING LED GROUPS ON HIKING ADVENTURES FOR 2 SEASONS. WHEN NOT COACHING ON THE GYM FLOOR, ON-LINE OR IN THE BACKCOUNTRY HE IS AN AVID TRAIL RUNNER/ULTRA RUNNER HAVING COMPLETED FOUR 100 MILE RACES. YOU CAN BRIBE HIM WITH COFFEE.

 FAQs

  • McCall has several lodging options. While you are welcome to stay where you would like, Coach Ryan will have some small discounts to a few places.

  • A good foundation is: You are going to the gym 3-4 times a week. You average 10,000 or more steps a day. Going for a 2 hour walk is pretty easy. Coach Ryan provides you with a 8 week supplemental program to get you ready for the mountains.

  • Hopefully, but we will always use caution around wildlife. It's the mountains, home to many creatures. We will be in there home, so we will be respectful.

  • Thursday night when you all arrive, Ryan will get some pizzas and take you to the local state park to welcome you to the area and talk about the plan for the next 3 days. Sunday night he throws a little BBQ to close out the weekend and enjoy all your hard work.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

IF YOU SIGN UP BETWEEN OCTOBER 7-NOVEMBER 11, 2024, THE EARLY BIRD SIGN UP IS $625. AFTER THAT IT WILL BE $775.
